Did you know
The winged statue everyone calls Eros is really Anteros, the god of selfless love, unveiled in 1893 on a fountain commemorating the philanthropist Lord Shaftesbury.
Local tip
Come after dark, when the screens glow brightest, and sit on the steps around the fountain to watch the crowds. Piccadilly Circus tube station is right underneath, so it makes an easy stop between Soho and Mayfair.
